Welcome to Flynn Physical Therapy located in Rockport, Mass. I am Kaethe Flynn PT, DPT. I opened this office in the Spring of 2006 to serve the local residents of Rockport and Cape Ann. My goal is to give quality Physical Therapy to the local and surrounding community in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

I have over 33 years of accumulated experience as a Physical Therapist. I have consistently practiced in my profession since graduating from college in 1981. I have maintained professional growth throughout my years of practice. This is done by attending therapy related courses, reading professional literature, taking advantage of advanced research findings for effective therapy, as well as through formal continuing education. I obtained my Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy in 2006 from Simmons College in Boston, Ma. My undergraduate work was done at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. To be a truly effective PT it is necessary to continue to grow in skills and to be open to change. I have found my work to be very fulfilling and I continue to learn each day from my profession, my peers, as well as my patients.

I grew up in Rockport and attended the local schools. Today my husband and I have 2 teenagers in the Rockport Public School System, as well as 3 grown young men. I have worked most of my career in this region. I am familiar with the health care community on the island and surrounding communities. I work with many of the local physicians on Cape Ann. I know and work with many of the orthopedic surgeons that practice locally.

I started my career working at the local Addison Gilbert Hospital in the 80's. I had the opportunity to work with, and learn from, some of our best surgeons: Dr Mordecai Berkowitz, Dr Sebastion Aparo and Dr. Robert Lundberg. The Director of the Physical Therapy Department at that time, Jeffrey Foss PT, was instrumental in encouraging me.

After having my son I worked in the home care setting for The VNA of Northshore (which eventually merged with other agencies to become VNA Care Network). The nurses and home health aides I had the opportunity to work in partnership with at the VNA Northshore honed my skills in interpersonal relations and development of the multidisciplinary approach to care. I also have experience working with the elderly and disabled from working in local nursing homes and Adult Day Health Care.

As a student, my affiliation at New England Baptist Hospital taught me the essentials of orthopedics. As stated above, I have taken numerous related courses to improve my skills. I am a member of our professional organization, the APTA. I have been actively involved in the Mass Chapter of the APTA for many years. I have sought to maintain an active lifestyle in harmony with my chosen profession. This has led me to a very successful career in respects to my knowledge of Physical Therapy. I am constantly striving to broaden my horizons in the orthopedic industry. I often join organizations and take courses to further educate myself.

I have an understanding of the services we have to offer here on Cape Ann. I have developed connections to build a base for communication between settings. My goal is to help my patients to reach their maximal potential in rehabilitation. I love to teach and educate my patients so that they become included and ultimately involved in the healing and recovery process. It is my belief that this is necessary to reach your full potential in therapy.

I hope to see you at my office should you ever require the need for a Physical Therapist.
